my 40 lb weight loss reward
I meant to post this a long time ago. I’ve since lost another 8 pounds, but here’s what I rewarded myself with for losing the first 40 pounds.

I meant to post this a long time ago. I’ve since lost another 8 pounds, but here’s what I rewarded myself with for losing the first 40 pounds.

We try to do the right thing by getting healthier and losing those extra pounds and THAT causes something else to screw up. I just had my gallbladder removed last week. It seems that my weight loss prompted that little bugger to go haywire and start making stones. So be careful on those diets and don’t lose the weight too fast. According to the nutritionists, my weight loss is right on target. Sure it was fast that first 6 weeks at 20-something pounds, but then tapered off to around a pound a week, and now it’s at around 1/2 a pound a week. But the GI docs say that’s what caused the attack. And I gotta tell ya…aside from childbirth, it’s the most painful experience I’ve ever had.

I know 37 pounds is a lot, but I never really thought about just how much weight loss that was until I looked back at my original measurements from day 1 of my diet and compared them to those taken just this morning.
I’ve lost 4 inches from my arms, 7 inches from my chest (without losing the boobs, YAY), 7 inches from my hips, 4.5 from my thighs (which was probably my best feature since they’ve always been more muscular than fat anyway), and OMFG! A whopping 12 inches from my waist! I couldn’t believe it. I had to recalculate that one 5 times for it to really sink in.
You know how it is when we’ve put on a bunch of weight and had a hard time getting it off. Even after we’ve lost it, it’s still hard not to see ourselves as that fat person that we used to be. Even though I’m now in a size 10, I still see that tight 16 every time I look in the mirror and it makes me that much more determined to lose that last 20 pounds and keep it off.
I’m really doing it! And I’m so excited! I wish much good luck to everyone out there struggling with their weight. It’s a long, difficult road to go down, but well worth the trip.

As of this morning, I am exactly 20 pounds from my ultimate goal. I never thought I’d be able to lose even 20 pounds, but here I sit this morning having lost 37.7 pounds. I’ve gone from a tight size 16 to a loose size 10 and it’s still coming off. I am so stoked! And grateful to all of my friends, both real and cyber, who have supported me and sent words of encouragement as I’ve travelled down the weight loss path. Thank you everyone!

I went for nearly a month on a plateau…couldn’t get that scale or tape measure to budge the tiniest little bit. Then all of a sudden this past week, I’ve lost another 2 1/5 pounds and another dress size. I thought the size 11 jeans I bought at the beginning of the week looked good…a tad bit loose in the waist and thighs, but not bad. Then I tried a 10 and guess what? PERFECT fit. WOOHOO!
My goal wasn’t necessarily a particular weight, because we all know that working out creates more muscle which weighs quite a bit more than fat, although I realize that’s what most diet plans want you to note right from the get-go. My plan was for the size 9 and I’m just 1 size away, so if I DO make that weight goal, great. But if I just make it to the size I want, I’ll be perfectly content because I’ll know that it’s muscle rather than fat even if my diet plan can’t seem to figure out the difference.

Just bought my first pair of size 11 jeans in 15 years last night. 2 more and I’m back to the 9 I was during high school. I’m so excited.

YEAH! As of this AM, I’ve reached my second mini-goal and gone down another size. Here’s to dropping that next 10 pounds.

I’ve always been one to rely more on measurements than scales, so I ordered a neat new gadget, which I received yesterday…a body fat percentage monitor/tape measure combo. The monitor is so easy to use and was very enlightening. And the tape measure was probably the easiest thing I’ve ever used with dieting. It holds its place kinda like a carpenter’s tape measure so you don’t have to worry about it slipping and giving you an inaccurate measurement. And they were quite reasonably priced too! Only $26.99 for the both of them. And free shipping, and then to top it off, I ordered on Friday and it was in my mailbox on Monday.
Here’s the link if anybody’s interested. Good luck to all.

I bought and wore comfortably my first pair of size 12 jeans in 8 years over the weekend. YAY!

I’m up to 27 pounds lost…scared me a few days ago when I stepped on the scale and saw a 4 pound gain. But then I remembered that it was that time of the month when I always bloat up and feel like a whale. Luckily, it all came right back off plus a little extra.
